The Supreme Court struck down the Stolen Valor Act on Thursday, June 28, in a case captioned United States v. Alvarez. Alvarez had falsely claimed that he received the Congressional Medal of Honor. The Stolen Valor Act made it a federal crime for a person to falsely claim that he or she had received a military honor or decoration.
