The Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) has served as the financial institution for carrying out federal farm commodity price support and production programs since 1933. It is a wholly government-owned entity that exists solely to finance authorized programs that support U.S. agriculture. It is subject to the supervision and direction of the Secretary of Agriculture at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The CCC mission began as mostly commodity support but over time has expanded to include an increasingly broad array of programs,, export and commodity programs, resource conservation, disaster assistance, agricultural research, and bioenergy development.
